Yes it's true! After 25 years of semi-retirement, playing nursing homes, Sol Bernstein is back where he belongs, in smokey nightclubs performing to drunks.
He's the man who helped the career's of Elvis Presley. Marcel Marceau (never even got a "thank you") and even the Beatles were influenced. He's worked with, and been friends with, some of the worlds GREATEST performers; Judy Garland, The Rat Pack, Lenny Bruce, Jack Benny, George Burns, Milton Berle, Doris Day, Tommy Cooper, Eric Morecambe and Eddie Large.
He's performed all over the world at venues including The London Palladium, New York's Carnegie Hall, The Paris Olympia, Caesars Palace Las Vegas, and Scunthorpe Baths, but it's at night clubs where Sol really comes to life. His charisma, his style, his catch phrase "why don't you put on a tie" his chutzpah, put it all together and you get the magic that is Sol Bernstein.
Steve has rapidly established himself throughout the UK as a top choice for all of the
major comedy venues & promoters, including the Comedy Store, CSE, Glee Club, and Jongleurs.
His whirlwind performances and thrilling routines have constantly proven a hit with even the
quietest crowds... The key to his act being his energy and silliness.
He has performed his comedy throughout the world: to an audience as diverse as bikers in a field, to royalty in a theatre, and never ceases to go down a storm.
This naturally affable scouse storyteller is instantly relatable with hilarious stories from his day to day life. His fresh and original material helped him to win the title of Liverpools new comedian of the year back in 2012...after a sabbatical from comedy he is back and ready to have you entertained with some fantastic tales of his strange and sometimes wonderful life.
"Committed vegetarian, firearms enthusiast, Buddhist and an ex-convict? That'll be a career in stand up then, Robert." Had Rob "The Gob" Riley had the benefit of a careers advisor in his early thirties you would imagine that's pretty much how the conversation would have gone. Having started on the circuit in 2002, Riley now tours the country in Fatima, his trusty Nissan Micra.
Never afraid to come off the script Rob is partial to a bit of MCing and is regular comperes at the legendary Off The Rails Comedy Club in Saddleworth.
